Apple Announced New iPhone: iPhone 5S & iPhone 5C
Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook started off by saying, “In the past, when we’ve launched a new iPhone, we lowered the cost of the old iPhone, making it more accessible to new people. But this year, we’re not going to do that.” Instead, Apple introduced a lower-cost iPhone 5C alongside the iPhone 5S – the company’s flagship smartphone.
The iPhone 5C
The first device revealed by Apple is the iPhone 5C. The 5C is made of unapologetically plastic and it is more colorful than any other Apple phone, even more colorful than any iPod. On the other end of the product spectrum, the iPhone 5C is slated to come in at least five colors. However, although the 5C looks playful, it is still a phone equal in power and performance to the iPhone 5. As Phil Schiller, Apple’s VP of marketing said, “You are going to be blown away by how rigid and great it feels in your hand.”
The iPhone 5S
At Apple reveal, Schiller tended to talk more about the new features of iPhone 5S. The 5S now is seized of the 64-bit A7 processor, which Apple Company assurances will be a big leap in both CPU performance and graphical processing compared to the iPhone 5. Except for the improvement of the power, the 5S features a new security measure—the fingerprint sensor. It is also called Touch ID. This function will be used to access device faster, as well as preventing unapproved users from accessing the data. App purchases can also be used with the sensor.
The iOS 7
Apple confirmed that there will be many new features in iOS 7. In addition to the flat and new icons and typography, iOS 7 brings a new Control Center for quick access to settings, an updated version of Safari, improved multitasking, enhanced Notifications and AirDrop and more. The new system will be available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, the iPad 2, iPad third and fourth generation, the iPad mini and the iPod touch fifth generation. And the iOS 7 system will launch on September 18 for free.
