How to Hide Photos on iPhone with the iOS Hidden Album

Let’s be honest. Some pictures in your iPhone’s Photos app are really deemed to stay private. They could be the terrible selfies, poorly edited pics or personal family photos, etc. It’s for the best that nobody else can see them. If you’d prefer to hide certain images from regular view, this is easily done.

Apple has provided a very useful feature that allows users to hide/unhide single or multiple photos in the iOS 9 device. Once you hide an image temporarily, it is removed from Years, Moments and Collection sections of the application. But you can still access it as well as unhide it from the dedicated “Hidden” folder found within Albums.

Note: This hidden feature is only available to iOS 8 and newer. And it can be used in iPhone, iPad and iPod touch too.

If you want to manually hide photos on iPhone, here is how to do it:

Step 1: Go to Photos app from the Home Screen, and browse for the delicate pictures.

Step 2: Open a photo that you want to hide from the Camera Roll or Albums.

Step 3: Tap and hold on the photo until you see the “Copy/Hide” option pops up.

Step 4: Now, tap on “Hide Photo”. Then the selected pictures will disappear from the Moments, Collections and Years view.

Step 5: That’s it. Now you can go to albums and you will find the “Hidden Photos” album which stored all your hidden photos.

After hiding a picture on iPhone, here is how you can get access to your hidden photos:

Step 1: Open the Photos app and tap on “Albums” view.

Step 2: Find out the “Hidden” folder in the list of Albums, and click on it.

Step 3: You will see all your hidden photos in the Hidden Album.

Note: To unhide photos, go to Albums view and browse for the hidden image. You tap and hold the photo until the “Unhide” option appears, then tap the option. After that, the item is then visible in the album as it was before hiding.

This tutorial is also useful for hiding videos from your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running on iOS 9. It is indeed a handy feature which allows you to remove private pictures or videos from different parts of the Photos app without deleting them and you are able to access them whenever you like.
