How to Improve Sound Quality of iPhone
I listen to music on my iPhone a lot when I am on my way to home, taking the subway, and even when I am reading books. So I always keep an eye on how to improve sound quality of iPhone and have tried different ways. Here are two useful ways to improve sound quality of iPhone.
Part 1. Turn on Sound Check and Set EQ on iPhone
Go to “Settings” > “Music” > turn on “Sound Check” toggle. After that, tap on “EQ” which stands for the equalizer. Choose a music genre which most of your songs are in. For example, “Jazz“. Now listen to the songs on your iPhone, you will find the difference.
Part 2. Choose Uncompressed Format on iPhone
There are two kinds of music – compressed music and uncompressed music. Some songs are compressed to get a smaller music file by discarding part of irrelevant data that people cannot hear. However, this will lose information of the sound and make it the lossy music. Instead, uncompressed music, which is exactly the raw music file, is lossless and has a high resolution.
AIFF format: To make sure that the sounds on your iPhone are always in high resolution, you can control it with the music format. The first and best option will be AIFF format. It’s an uncompressed type but takes up plenty of storage.
WAV file: This will be a second choice for me. It has a high music quality. However, the music cover and other music info won’t be saved if you download WAV file on your iPhone, iPad, etc.
ALAC file: It will provide the music half in size compared with AIFF with little loss of the quality.
AAC and MP3: These two are compressed music which is tiny in size in scarification of the quality. You’d better avoid them.
